Workshop Q&As

Questions, answered

Most people ask the same handful of things before booking. Here are the answers — booking, deposits, cancellations, what to expect, what to bring, and the practical realities of how the courses work. Anything not covered here, just message Colin.

Booking

Booking & getting started

Practical questions about how to book, when to book, and what happens after.

How do I book a course or training?

Choose the course type that fits what you want to learn, then complete the application form for that category:

Colin replies personally to arrange a phone call to talk through your goals and answer any questions before you commit. Make sure your mobile and email on the form are correct.

Can I have a quick chat before applying?

Yes — book a free 15-minute call directly. Use this form to choose a time. No obligation, no pressure, just a conversation.

When can I book a class?

Weekdays (Monday–Friday):

  • 10am – 1pm
  • 1pm – 4pm
  • 5pm – 7pm
  • 6pm – 9pm

Saturdays:

  • 10am – 1pm
  • 1pm – 4pm

These can be adjusted to fit, and where needed two 3-hour sessions can be combined into a single 5-hour day.

Sundays are by special request and add a £100 supplement per session.

Where do the classes take place?

Unless arranged otherwise, all modules take place at the Intimacy Matters treatment rooms in Sloane Square, London, SW1X 9DE.

Do I need any prior massage experience?

For personal-learning courses (Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced), no — anyone can book without prior experience.

For the Professional Practitioner Training, if you have no experience of massage or intimate body work, you may be asked to attend an Induction Session first before being accepted onto the full 26-hour training.

Practice & Volunteers

The practice massages

How the live practice element works, who you'll be working with, and how it stays safe and consensual throughout.

Who do I massage in the practice sessions?

All training runs on a private-tuition basis, with carefully selected and vetted volunteers for you to practise on. Volunteers are past clients of Intimacy Matters who give their time for free to help students learn.

Volunteers are required to be fit, healthy, and to give full informed consent to receive the practice massages given by a student under Colin's teaching guidance. They're also happy to give honest, generous feedback on your technique and style — feedback you'd struggle to get any other way.

Can a friend or partner be my volunteer instead?

Yes, at no charge — and where your friend or partner replaces a vetted volunteer, the cost of the course is reduced accordingly. Several pricing options on each course reflect this (e.g. Foundation Option 2 prices the course on partner + 1 volunteer rather than 2 volunteers).

Can I take the class with a friend?

Yes — you can take a class together with a friend by paying a 50% supplement on the published prices.

Can I keep in contact with the volunteers afterwards?

If both parties give consent, contact details can be exchanged after the training module. You're also invited to join the Students & Volunteers Group on Sensual Connect.

How do I find people to practise on between training sessions?

Two routes:

  • Join the Sensual Connect community — many members have either taken a course, been a volunteer, or are clients of Intimacy Matters.
  • Use a dating app and add to your profile that you're taking a course with Intimacy Matters and need practice between sessions. You'd be surprised how many people are interested.
Payment

Deposits & payments

How payment works, when balances are due, and the spread-payment options for longer training programmes.

Do I pay a deposit?

Yes — 50% of the course fee on booking, with the balance due the day before your training begins. Ideally paid by bank transfer, but credit/debit card or cash are also accepted.

When do I pay the 50% balance?

On or before the first day of the course. Bank transfer is preferred but credit/debit card or cash on request also work.

Can I spread my payments?

Yes — for the Combined Foundation & Intermediate courses, the Advanced course, and the Professional Practitioner Training. On request, Colin will work out a payment schedule across the duration of your training.

Sensual massage training should be accessible. If the desire is strong but the cash-flow situation makes booking difficult, just ask — instalment plans are usually possible.
Cancellations

If you need to cancel or postpone

Life happens. Here's exactly how cancellations, postponements, and missed sessions are handled — fairly, in both directions. The full terms also live on our Terms & Cancellation page.

What if I cancel more than 72 hours before the training?

You have two options:

  • Receive 75% of your deposit refunded, or
  • Transfer your booking to a new start date that begins within 12 weeks of the original booking.

If the new training is not taken within that window, the deposit is forfeited.

What if I postpone within 2–3 days of the start date?

Your deposit can be transferred only if both of these are true:

  • You provide a new start date within 7 days of postponing, AND
  • The new training begins within 12 weeks of the original date.

If either condition isn't met, the deposit is forfeited and a new booking is required.

What about cancellations within 24 hours, or no-shows?

Cancellations within 24 hours or non-attendance on the day result in loss of the full deposit.

What if I miss an individual training module?

If you don't attend a scheduled module without giving at least 24 hours' notice, that session won't be repeated and no refund is given.

What about exceptional circumstances — illness, bereavement?

Colin will always do his best to be fair and supportive in cases of bereavement, serious injury, or significant illness, where appropriate evidence is provided. With supporting evidence you may also pause your training — all remaining sessions then need to be completed within 12 months of your original start date.

Should I get cancellation insurance?

If you're booking from outside London or fitting training around travel, taking out a cancellation insurance policy is a sensible safety net.

On the day

What to expect, what to bring

Practical, on-the-day stuff — what happens when you arrive, what you'll need, and the boundaries of the practice.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself, some light clothing for the early part of the class, and a light lunch if you're staying through the lunchtime period. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby.

Am I going to be naked?

Optional, depending on your motivation for taking the course and your own comfort. There's no pressure either way.

Can I shower and get ready at the premises?

Yes — shower and towels are provided, and a hairdryer and brushes are available too.

Do I receive a certificate?

Yes, on request — Colin can provide a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Privacy & conduct

Confidentiality & conduct

The non-negotiables — privacy of every session, no recording, and the boundaries that keep this professional.

How is confidentiality handled?

It is essential that both you and your volunteer maintain confidentiality. The content of every session is private and is not shared with anyone outside the training.

Can I take photographs or video the training?

Under no circumstances. Recording, photographing, or videoing any part of the training is not permitted.

Does sexual intercourse occur in a class?

No — at no point in any training is this permitted. The training is professional, instructional, and consent-based throughout.
